The Climbing Backpackers have earned a strong reputation within the climbing community for their positive energy and engaging content, showcasing the incredible variety of sport climbing crags they've explored over the past year. Now, we're offering you the chance to join them for an unforgettable climbing adventure in one of best hidden gems in Spain: Asturias and Cantabria. Crags like El Desfiladero de la Hermida, Cabrales, and Teverga are just a few of the hundreds spread across this northern region of Spain. In summer, the cooler temperatures here offer the perfect escape from the heat. Over the last few years, this area has become the go-to summer hotspot for sport climbing in Europe, thanks to its incredible limestone quality. Tufas, slabs, overhangs, you name it, it's here. And hey, the local food? Absolutely superb. This week promises exciting climbs on some of Europe’s finest sport climbing areas, and an amazing group of climbers to share the experience. Get ready for great vibes, exciting challenges, and unforgettable memories in the North of Spain! Note: This is not a guided trip. You need to be an autonomous climber. There will be a Rock Climbing Instructor for those who need, though. If you’ve only climbed in a gym or are just starting to get comfortable on real rock, this is the trip for you!

The Climbing Backpackers are Nettie and Dave, a British climbing couple who have become very popular on Instagram for their good vibes videos, their incredible trips through Asia, Kalymnos and Turkey and because in each of their destinations they create very complete and appealing visual guides.
On our previous trip with them in Costa Blanca, we shared stories, good times, and above all, plenty of banter.
Xavi Coll
Xavi is a Rock Climbing Instructor with extensive climbing experience both in the UK and internationally, friendly and passionate about the sport.
He’s also an award-winning filmmaker specializing in climbing films, with several acclaimed documentaries, two of which are currently available on Amazon Prime. He has also produced extensive video content for EpicTV.
Xavi will be filming the trip and will create a dedicated video that each participant will receive after the adventure.

Day 1 - Welcome to Cantabria!
Our meeting point is Santander, where we'll pick up our rental cars and depart for our climbing location, where we'll spend the week. In just an hour and a half, we'll arrive at our destination, where we'll check in, stock up on food at the supermarket, and begin to explore the immense climbing potential of the area.
Days 2 to 7 - Climbing Time!
An incredible week of climbing awaits us in one of Spain's best-kept secrets. We'll explore the canyons of La Hermida, Cabrales, and local crags with incredible rock quality. This is a true limestone paradise. Tufas, pockets, cracks, you name it. Picos de Europa at its best.
This is a trip to enjoy, so we'll tailor daily activities to the participants' levels and needs. The important thing is to enjoy it, not the grades!

We’ll spend the week in one of the many rural houses in the area, with twin or double rooms available depending on your preference and availability. We’ll stay close to the local crags, so there’s no need for long drives each day. Plus, the area is full of charming and interesting villages with great restaurants and bars—perfect for celebrating our daily sends.
FAQs
What are the necessary skills to participate in the trip?
Not really, beginners are welcome! However, you'll enjoy more if you can at least climb V+ in top rope in the gym. If you also have some leading experience, much better, since you will enjoy the overall experience much more.
Whats our cancellation policy?
First and foremost, we recommend that all participants obtain cancellation insurance in case you need to cancel your trip, experience flight delays that cause you to arrive late for the activity, or encounter any other unexpected issues.
You will have the possibility to cancel the Tour in accordance with the following indemnity scheme (refunded or to be paid depending on whether the payment was made and received):
- 100% Refund: If cancellation is notified in writing via email to Kookoo Climb up to 90 days before the first day of the Tour (minus a 5% administration fee).
- 50% Refund: If cancellation is notified in writing via email to Kookoo Climb between 89 and 60 days before the first day of the Tour (minus a 5% administration fee).
- 0% Refund: If cancellation is notified in writing via email to Kookoo Climb 59 days or less before the first day of the Tour.
If bad weather or unsuitable conditions force the guide to cancel the trip, Kookoo Climb will:
a) propose a similar activity at a different place where conditions are better. If you refuse option a), the cancellation policy will apply.
Is there a minimum number of participants for the trip?
Certainly! The minimum group size is 7 people, so please hold off on purchasing your plane ticket until we confirm the trip. Once the departure is confirmed, we'll send you an email notification, allowing you to proceed with booking your flights.
