Overview

Waterfalls, jumps, slides, rappels... The Sierra de Guara is a natural water park in a spectacular setting. A typical day in Sierra de Guara begins with a good breakfast that will be served at 8:30am at the accommodation. Then we pack the cars with equipment, lunch, water and go meet our guides to a meeting point at the start of a canyon. Access walk to the start of the canyon and instructions from our guide how to use technical and safety equipment. Then we get geared up, and start the adventure under the watchful eye of the guides. This is our favorite trip for families and friends. Everything is ready for you to get immersed in the world of canyoning!

Day 1 - Welcome to Rodellar

First day - Welcome and check in at the accommodation, meeting the guides, planning the coming days.

You get to try the gear, get comfy, and join us for our first dinner together!

Day 2 - Introduction to main canyoning techniques

During this journey, we will learn step by step ways to safely progress through the canyons. In addition to rappelling and chimney climbing in narrow sections, we will go through the safety movements and the different aquatic progression techniques such as jumps, slides, swimming and diving. All in a breathtaking environment surrounded by rocks and pristine water. Not bad for a first day warm-up.

Day 3 - Descent of Río Vero and visit to Alquézar

Descent of the lower half of the Vero River, one of the most famous canyons of the Sierra de Guara and Spain surrounded by a beautiful landscape and stunning cliffs. Exceptional, this legendary descent consists of numerous water sections and natural pools before reaching the medieval town of Alquézar, for a brief visit to its narrow streets, its viewpoint and the majestic "collegiate church".

The fantastic day will be finished with a local specialty food tasting.

Day 4 - Rest day and Via Ferrata climb

Let's kick off the "rest day" with an ascent of a very cool via ferrata. You get the chance to see what the limestone gorges look like from the top. The 360° views are impressive. The rock formations in the area are nothing but fantastic. Wait until you see the Dolphin... We shall have a picnic in some cool shade, then walk along Mascún - one of the most spectacular canyons in the world. This is another climbers' paradise with cliffs everywhere. The unique landscape dotted with natural pools inspires awe and peace.

Day 5 - Descent of Formiga Canyon

In a gorge located at the foot of the Tozal de Guara, which dominates the Sierra, the descent of Formiga canyon provides for a superb day adventure. It is wholesome and complete and with its challenges for all levels. You canyoning technique skills will be complete in a fun way with rappels, jumps, and slides. This place is wild, you will get chance to see canyon vultures that nest on the cliffs of the canyon and circle all day on hot air streams, or colorful newts endemic to this area. The day will be finished with Paella, a tasty dish typical at this area.

Day 6 - Descent of La Peonera Canyon

La Peonera is the "aquatic amusement park" canyon. Beautiful all along, this route offers several very different sections. It is placed among magnificent walls sculpted by the water. Its beautiful waterfalls and turquoise pools are perfect for jumps. The water is hiding a multitude of surprises and challenges. An active and playful descent that will be perfect to finish the week of adventuring.

Albergue Las Almunias

You will be staying at the Las Almunias Albergue, in the town of Rodellar, which is in the center of the Sierra de Guara. Meeting place for climbers and canyoners and the perfect place to rest after an intense day on the river. The rooms are shared and have bunk beds.

We include breakfasts, picnics and dinners in the price.
