Tarifa Climbing Paradise
The best sunsets in Spain
From stunning beaches to a charming old town brimming with cosy cafés, Tarifa offers a wealth of attractions. Situated in the south of Spain, Tarifa boasts the distinction of being the Spanish city closest to the African continent. Indeed, weather permitting, boats depart daily to Tangier (Morocco), offering easy access to another continent.
Climbing here presents a unique experience compared to other Spanish areas like Siurana, Oliana, Margalef, or the Costa Blanca. Time seems to slow down, and crowded crags are a rarity. Moreover, with the majority of climbers being locals, you'll encounter a warm and welcoming atmosphere where socialising at the crag is the norm. It's a haven for unwinding both body and mind, in its purest form.
Trip Tips
Ideal equipment for the trip
As the guide will provide ropes and quickdraws for the group, we suggest that you bring your own climbing shoes, harness, belay devices, and helmet if you use one. If you prefer to use your own rope and quickdraws, that's even better, since you're used to them. For colder months (October to February), it's advisable to bring along some warm clothing, particularly for the afternoons and evenings. Additionally, pack shorts and several t-shirts, as it can get hot during midday when exposed to the sun. Given the area's high number of sunny days, it's wise to bring sunscreen, as the sun can be intense at times.
Things to do in Tarifa apart from climbing
Here are our top 10 activities that you shouldn't miss before or after our program: 1. Take the ferry from Tarifa to Tangier. 2. Go on a Tarifa whale watching excursion. 3. Climb the towers of Castillo Guzman el Bueno. 4. Explore Tarifa’s old town. 5. See a truly local market. 6. Explore the local bars and taverns. 7. Visit some of the nearby beaches. We recommend you Bolonia with its sand dunes and chiringuito for a cocktail or beer during sunset. 8. Try kite surfing for at least one day. 9. Enjoy a day at the beach. 10. Try the delicious local and fresh seafood.
FAQs
What's the minimum amount of participants?
We aim to simplify things! That's why we've set the minimum number of participants for the program at just two people. Can it get any easier than that?
What's the best season to come?
Tarifa and the Cádiz region enjoy a mild climate year-round, though it's advisable to steer clear of the peak summer season from June to late August. The remainder of the year offers ideal conditions, with fewer tourists, ensuring a more enjoyable experience.
Do I have to be a strong climber to join the trip?
Absolutely not! Our program is specifically tailored for beginner and intermediate climbers. Additionally, David will be on hand to set up top ropes whenever needed, guide you through routes, and instruct you on how to equip yourself and start climbing safely if you're completely new to the sport.
